Allison Cope is back today to share some “interactive” holiday cards with us. These slider cards were designed to send to Allison’s friends and family this holiday season.
Here are the items you will need to create this card:
- 2 pennies
- foam adhesive
- adhesive dots
- patterned paper
- craft knife
- optional: vellum, embossing plates, ribbon, stamps
Die cut 2 snowflakes using a Cuttlebug snowflake shape; one snowflake out of white cardstock, and the other out of vellum. Tip: I then embossed the vellum with my “Swiss Dots” Cuttlebug embossing folder.
I layered the two snowflakes with the vellum on the top and then attached them to a slightly smaller circle of coordinating cardstock using a snowflake brad.
Cut a piece of patterned paper 5 1/8 x 3 7/8. Cut a 3 inch by 0.5 inch hole in the desired area of your card.
Place one piece of foam adhesive on top of one of your pennies. Carefully place the penny and foam dot in the opening of the hole. The photo below is the back of my patterned paper. Adhere your snowflake circle to the penny on the front of your patterned paper using an adhesive dot.
Place the second penny on top of the foam dot and penny combination. Add additional foam adhesive dots around the perimeter of your patterned paper.
Cut a cardstock mat our colour coordinating cardstock at 5 ¼ x 4 (mine is black). Cut another piece of cardstock at 8 ½ x 5 ½ and then fold it half to use as your card base.
Finish decorating the front panel of your card before you adhere it to the matting. Adhere your layered mats on the cardstock card base. You have now just made your own slider card! Finished card dimensions: 4 ¼ x 5 ½.
Warm Wishes Card

Tip: If you use ROUND shaped foam adhesives on your pennies, the snowflake will roll and rotate more freely than SQUARE shaped foam adhesive. You could cut a square foam dot into a rounded shape before adhering it if you wish.
