Hello everyone! I'm so happy to be joining you this week for Monday's Designer Challenge. As some of you might know, I live on an old cattle ranch in Montana. We're pretty darn remote out here and don't enjoy many amenities of city living (yes, we do have electricity and running water!). Since we have to haul our own trash to town, we recycle everything. And I mean everything. So I decided to make a green-friendly sketch and my challenge for you this week is to use up your scraps.
Supplies: alpha stickers, buttons and paper: American Crafts (Letterbox); cardstock: Bazzill (white); embossing plate: Spellbinders (Flourish); leaf punch: Martha Stewart; deco scissors: Provo Craft (small scallop and ric rac); font: Lindy; glimmer mist: Tattered Angels (Bubble Gum, Tiger Lily); pearls, pink thread
And, here is the sketch:
I had some wonderful leftover American Crafts Letterbox papers in my stash and I thought these patterns looked so nice with this wedding photo. The sketch itself is pretty simple and straight forward so I decided to give the layout a bit of "oomph" by adding some layered tissue flowers. The tissue paper is recycled from the holidays. :) I sprayed every other layer of tissue with two different colors of glimmer (and glimmer misted one of my nosey dogs in the process!). I thought it gave the tissue a soft, watercolor look. After the pieces dried, I squished them all up into a ball, and then flattened them out a bit. There are about nine layers of tissue on each flower. I covered the button holes with small pearls to add a soft touch to the wedding theme of the page.
With nine squares of paper, a couple strips of paper and three pre-made flowers, this layout will come together in no time—perfect for the scrapper on the go!
"A little bird told me ..." that I'll be back on Wednesday!
Thank you so much Becky for this beautiful layout - so fresh and pretty. We are thrilled to have Becky joining the SCT team this year. A great way to use up left over paper AND tissue. I too save everything but don't always know how to use it. Now I do.
