Virginia Nebel is back with yet another great idea! Have you got a plethora of chipboard? Read on...
"Do you have lots of chipboard? All of these beautiful chipboard shapes are just begging to be glittered up but I’m not so keen on using wet glue, dealing with messy brushes, having sticky fingers or using a heat gun etc. Simple and mess-free is my motto. Recently this ‘aha’ moment came to me and I’m excited to share my fun and easy tip to glitter up chipboard shapes. This technique works well for intricate shapes like words and flourishes.
The type of tape shown in the photo is key for this technique. This double-sided tape is awesome; it’s super tacky so when glitter is applied it stays on.
1. Unroll a length of tape. Place the chipboard piece face down onto the tape and pat down firmly so that it is stuck into the tape.
2. Use a paper piercer (not an exacto knife) and score around the chipboard shape with enough pressure until you see the tape separating from the wax backing. Your paper piercer is gliding on top of the wax backing without going through it. You do not need to cut through the backing and if you are you are pressing too hard. The tape should begin to curl away from the chipboard with a little flick of the paper piercer. Continue this until all the tape is cleared away from the chipboard shape.
3. Slowly remove the chipboard shape from the tape, the front side of your shape should be completely covered with a layer of adhesive. This is now a blank sticky surface ready for glitter (or flocking, tinsel, micro beads etc)!
4. Sprinkle glitter over your shape and rub the glitter into the tape with your finger. Voila you’ve just glittered a chipboard shape in seconds and the best part is no messy cleanup!
Supplies: Chipboard, Maya Road; Tape, Be Creative; Microfine Glitter, Ritz Jewel
Here is my finished Teacher thank you card.
Thank you Virginia! If you missed Virginia's post in April on how to use a Martha Stewart border punch three ways, be sure to check it out here. Very clever!

This is an awesome tip that I will be using. Thanks so much!

Great idea, Virginia. Recently, I covered a chipboard word in seed beads. You should have heard me cursing myself at the crop. I kept saying, "Don't try this at home". I need to get myself some of that double sided tape before I venture out with this idea again. Thanks.

Never would have thought to just run a tool through the one layer to separate the sticky backing. What made you think to do that. For those of you wondering the tape is made by Scor Pal or Sook Wang - great stuff - inexpensive and really holds well when adhering paper, embellishments, etc. Large, wide rolls are more expensive but last forever. The narrow rolls are very inexpensive.

Hello everyone!
Thank you for all the kind words. I'm so glad you find this tape trick helpful.
I noticed there a few questions about the tape. The Sookwang tape I used in my tutorial is distributed by Be Creative. It's fabulous and comes in many widths ranging from 3mm to 115 mm. Each roll is over 80 feet- so you get tons of tape. It is also available in 8.5 x 11 sheets. The microfine glitter is Glitter Ritz which is available in over 50 delicious colours.
If you are unable to source these at your LSS, I have linked (with Catherine's permission) some info on my blog on where to purchase them (click on my name to hop over).
I'll be showing some other fun stuff in upcoming 3T's. Hope this helps!
