Good Monday morning! We would like to start the week with a big "thank you" to all the people we met these past two weekends at ScrapFest and the Creativ Festival in Toronto. It is always great to meet our readers and to welcome new readers too! And if you are just joining us on the SCT blog you are in for a treat as we have an AMAZING designer joining us this week. Marla Kress is certainly one of the best designers in our industry and she is here to share some fun Halloween projects and inspiration with you! I know I am heading to my scrap room right now to create a little something for my little ones!
"Happy Monday! I am so happy to be here today to share with you some projects that I've made - and challenge you to do a little creating of your own! Today I'm going to talk about Halloween since it is less than one week away. And I don't know about you but I refuse to believe that Halloween is only about the kids. I still like dressing up, carving pumpkins, handing out candy AND eating candy! So today I want to challenge you to make some fun treats to hand out later this week. They can be for your kids, family, friends, co-workers, spouses or yourself! Your treat will definitely brighten someone's day and make YOU feel good all at the same time!
These handmade treats are not edible but definitely fun! Cut some designs out of patterned paper and attach them to bamboo sticks (Halloween themed pencils for little ones would work nicely as well). Place them in a cup and watch the action unfold as those around you fine their inner child...or your children find their inner adult!
If you want to keep the sugar level down, try making little treat bags filled with stickers, trading cards or temporary tattoos. Add some decorative paper and die-cut and you're all set to give a treat that kids will love and parents will thank you for.
If sophistication is more your style, trying making some bulk candy bags with decorative toppers (and definitely keep one for yourself!)
Lastly if you have a few monsters...er kiddos...in your life, try dressing up some little containers. Little containers + a little candy = lots of smiles.
I had a lot of fun creating todays projects and hope you feel inspired to create a few handmade treats of your own!" ~ Marla
I am Marla, chief meal cooker, laundry folder, dishwasher, boo boo kisser, diaper changer, book reader, block builder, pretend player, bear hugger and laugh getter to one crazy husband and three small kiddos. When I'm not on duty I like to spend time in my studio creating pages and albums that my family can enjoy. I also enjoy photography and dream of being a fabulous seamstress (oh the wardrobe my daughter could have). My life as a stay-at-home mom is nothing short of interesting and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

adorable halloween projects!

Love all these projects. Can you recommend any site that I can go to get designs like the ones you made with the bamboo stick?
