Good morning! Did you love Lisa's challenge yesterday? We did! And today we have Virginia Nebel who without knowing it, took up Lisa's challenge!
"I love to explore creative ways to use everyday items. Today I’d like you to join me and rummage through your kitchen pantry for cupcake or muffin liners. Cupcake liners are delicate and can be transformed into pretty ruffles and rosettes. Most cupcake liners come in white so the options to ink, mist, and colour them are endless!
Here are some tips to transform those liners into a pretty ruffle strip:
1. I like to use large or jumbo liners as they have longer pleats.
2. Take one liner, fold gently in half being careful not to flatten the pleats too much. Cut out the flat bottom portion (it is the half-moon shape in the centre)
3. You should have a bottom less liner.
4. Cut through and open up the liner. This will make it easier to ink and mist. You have just made your own paper ruffle strip.
5. To make rosettes: After you apply mist or colour to the pleats, close and glue the open ends together, leaving a centre of 1 ¼ inch diameter in the middle (you can trim the longer excess ends)
6. Squeeze the centre together and flare out the pleats at the same time. Hold the centre of the rosette in place using tacky adhesive tape. Smaller sized rosettes are made by trimming the height of the pleats a little shorter first after step 4.
Dressforms are really popular, use the ruffles to make a pretty skirt, add ribbon and a flower at the waist for a feminine touch.
On my tag topper, I used the cupcake liner to add realness and dimension to the cupcake. Die cut cupcake bottom from white cardstock first and add pleats over top tucking the ends behind.

I love these ideas. I have done something siimilar before. I've cut the outer edge down a bit to flatten it on the centre of a card and placed a paper pieced bon bon in it with the caption 'You're so Sweet'. I think I'll be trying that cute cupcake next.
