Happy Tuesday! Inspired by pretty hair clips I've seen I thought it would be fun to incorporate this idea into our crafting projects. So dig into your ribbons and embellies stash to make something really pretty.
Step 1:
You will need alligator hair clips (the ones shown here are 1 3/4 inches available at beauty supplies stores), 1/4 inch double-sided Scor-Tape, and some 3/8 inch gros grain ribbon.
Step 2:
Trim a piece of ribbon slightly longer than 5 1/4 inches. Flip over and apply the Scor-tape to the back. Trim the ribbon/tape to a finished length of 5 1/4 inches. This gives you a clean cut and the tape runs flush to the ribbon ends to prevent fraying.
Step 3:
Peel off the tape backing. Squeeze to open up the alligator clip, apply the ribbon to the underside of the top prong, then guide the ribbon over the prong, around the clip end, and then finish wrapping the ribbon to the bottom prong. Press around the clip so that the tape has made good contact with the metal.
Voila! you have just make a pretty covered clip, how easy was that!
Step 5:
You can add an assortment of embellishments. I would suggest securing the embellishment to the ribbon prior to applying the tape. For example, securing the flower brad 2 inches from the left edge will have it nicely centred atop the clip.
Step 6: Isn't this a fabulous crafts to make with the kiddos? I can see a whole lot of giggles and fun at a girl's dress up party!
You can use the decorated clips on mini-albums. Clip them to the edge of your album pages for a great tactile detail to hold journaling notes or assorted ephemera.
Incorporate them into your cards or tags for added fun. The lucky recipient gets a hand crafted card and a pretty bonus gift!
Supplies: Scor-Tape, Webster's pages paper, Accucut diecut
Enjoy your day!

I'll have to find a shop that sells those clips. I already have the ribbon. Neat idea.

How adorable to make these for a little girls birthday party! Each little girl could pick a ribbon and make her own (with help probably..but that's part of the fun)!!
Thanks for the idea and tutorial!
