A friend of mine recently took some great family photos for us, and I’ve enjoyed finding ways to display them in our home. Of course we’ll have the traditional framed enlargement in our family room, but I also wanted to have some in my craft room. I decided to get a little creative with it, and came up with this framed rotating family photo display.
Supplies: textured cardstock, patterned paper, chipboard alphas, chipboard tags, die cut stickers, glitter brads, scallop rotary trimmer blade, Corner Chomper tool, Corner Mounter tool: all We R Memory Keepers; other supplies: 10x13 inch frame, adhesive foam core, Rustoleum spray paint in Ocean.
The idea is that you can rotate photos anytime you’d like, and just leave the frame hanging on your wall. How does this occur without ruining the papers, or without having to re-do the whole thing? Enter the new We R Memory Keepers Corner Mounter tool.
This tool cuts slits into your paper so that you can slid the corners of your photos into them, thus mounting your photos onto a project without using adhesive. It works great for heritage photos you’re afraid to glue or tape, for awards and artwork, or for any project where you’d like to easily remove or replace your photos. The tool comes with a template for easy measuring (square and rectangle, from 2x2” up to 5x7”) and two blades—one curved and one straight.
You can also use a craft knife to cut photo slits if you don’t have access to the Corner Mounter tool. Just place your photo on the paper and trace the corners lightly with a pencil. Then use your craft knife to cut a slit slightly bigger than each corner.
Another option for this project is photo corners. You can find these at craft stores and office supply stores. Just make sure they’re acid free and archival safe.
I love having a photo display in my craft room that allows me to easily swap out my newest family photos. I hope this project has inspired you in some way. Happy crafting!
