Happy National Scrapbooking Day! Today I thought it would be fun to take you on an exploration of colour and show you what happens when you approach the same layout from a whole new colour perspective. I took my Colour Suite layout from the Spring issue of Scrapbooking & Cards Today and decided to recreate it in a whole new colour scheme. Okay I couldn’t resist making just a couple of changes to my new layout but the overall feel and design of the 2 layouts are the same.
Supply List: Bazzill Cardstock, Patterned Paper Jillibean Soup, Bella Blvd and American Crafts, Alpha Stickers, Baker's Twine Jillibean Soup, Buttons Jillibean Soup and Fancy Pants, Wood House Studio Calico, Postage Stamp Die from Spellbinders, Stamp Technique Tuesday, ColorBox Ink, Martha Stewart tag punch, DMC Floss white, Silhouette Cutting System, Fonts Traveling Typewriter (journaling) and Arial (Title)
My layout from the Spring issue above is sunny bright and almost a little girly with it’s use of pinks, yellow and orange. When I went to re-create my layout I opted for a more masculine feeling to go with the car theme. To achieve a more masculine feel I went right for navy and orange. I grounded my layout in brown and grey this only enhances the masculine feel and tone of my layout.
Supplies Used: Bazzill Cardstock, Patterned Papers from Heidi Swapp, My Minds Eye, Studio Calico and American Crafts, Kraft Border Sticker Studio Calico, Martha Stewart Starburst Punch, Decorative Brad Crate Paper, Orange Flower Embellishment Bazzill, Buttons from Boxer Scrapbooking, Wood House Embellishment from Studio Calico, Orange Butterfly Embellishment from Making Memories, Postage Stamp/Pennant Die from Spellbinders, DMC Floss white, Technique Tuesday Stamp, White StazOn Ink, Basic Grey Brad, Stick Pin JoAnn’s, Corner Rounder We R Memory Keepers, Silhouette Cutting System, Fonts Veteran Typewriter (journaling) and Lobster 1.4 (title)
If you struggle with colour I recommend getting a colour wheel. I admit I have one and I am not afraid to use it! Also there are tons of websites out there to help. In fact, I use this one often when I am working on the Colour Suite. Don’t forget colour rules are meant to be broken even I break my own rules from time and again.
Now for your challenge...here is April's Colour Suite...
