Happy May! I love gazing out my window and seeing all the pretty spring blooms appear in my garden. I thought this would be a perfect time to share how to create a window card. I like to dress up my window card in layers by using elements on the outside, in-between and the inside of the card:
Supplies: My Minds Eye pattern paper; Diecuts- Sizzix, My Favourite Things,Memory Box die; BasicGrey chipboard
a. Start with a card base of 6 x 10 inches and fold in half. Cut out pattern paper measuring 6 x 5 inches. For the window shape I use a Sizzix frame die.
b. Position the pattern paper over the card front and use remove-able tape to attach together (I use washi tape). Roll the front of the card/pattern paper together through the Sizzix die to create the window.
c. You have 3 surfaces to embellish- the outside front of the card, in-between to suspend elements, and the inside of the card.
d. Gather elements to build the theme of your card. I made this card for my Mom who loves to sew.
e. The dress-form, flower border, and sentiments are placed on the outside of the card, the banners and lace are adhered in between the layers, and finally the inside of the card is also embellished.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post and inspired to do a little window dressing soon! ~ Virginia Nebel

I never thought about layering between the base and PP - I'll have to try it. Thanks for the idea!

Having never used or seen a Sixxex frame die, I couldn't figure out what the black thing was! LOL! Duh! I will have to improvise the window cuts on my projects. Thanks for the info!

Can someone please tell me what the vintage brush-like item is called that is being used to hold the card in the first photo? I've been browsing antique stores hunting for one, but I don't know what it's called. Thanks!

Thank you everyone for your kind comments.
Colleen- the heart swirl inside the card is a diecut by Memory Box.
Dolli- the brush is a florist frog, I found mine in the floral section at Michaels.
Hope that helps!
