With summer in full swing and temperatures in the upper 90’s here, I’ve got the beach on my brain. Sadly, we live about 700 miles from the nearest beach so I’ll have to use my imagination for now. To help my imagination out, I created this summer beach wreath to hang on my door. Maybe sometime this summer I’ll make it out to the real beach and bring home some sand and seashells to add on to my wreath as a souvenir!
Supplies: Textured cardstock, patterned paper, cardstock stickers, layered chipboard tags, crocheted lace ribbon, magnetic circle cutter, Lucky 8 punches (We R Memory Keepers); hot glue gun (Imaginisce), adhesive (Xyron), 16”x20” art or poster board
Here’s how to create the wreath:
Step 1: Cut a 14” diameter circle from your art or poster board to use as your wreath base.
Step 2: Cut nineteen 2”x7” strips and thirty 2”x5” strips from various patterned papers. Fold them, being careful not to crease them, and hot glue the ends together.
Step 3: Hot glue the nineteen 2”x7” inch folded paper strips side-by-side around the wreath base. Then hot glue the thirty 2”x5” folded paper strips around the wreath in two layers on top of the first layer. Be sure to off-set them so you cover the wreath base completely. Leave an 11 inch space in the center.
Step 4: Cut an 11 ¾” circle from a sheet of the white cardstock and add it to the center of your wreath. Punch a sheet of aqua cardstock with Lucky 8 punches. Layer that over the white cardstock circle. Cut a 9” circle from yellow patterned paper and layer that over the punched aqua cardstock.
Step 5: Create a beach scene on your wreath by punching one sheet each of blue and aqua cardstock with a Lucky 8 punch. Trim off small sections and layer them to create the ocean. Cut a 5” circle from brown patterned paper, and cut it in half to create sand dunes. Punch the orange patterned paper with a Lucky 8 punch, and trim off a small section for the sun.
Step 6: Embellish your beach scene using stickers and tags. Photo corners make great sun rays!
Step 7: Hot glue a 2 foot length of ribbon on the back for hanging.
Bonus tip: as a variation, you can add some beach photos to the center of the wreath. I hope this project inspires your summer crafting! ~ Aly Dosdall

Cute wreath!! Such a great way to use all those little scraps of ribbon, too. I need to put something up on my door. It just looks naked without a wreath. ;)
