Thanks to some requests after I shared a paper bow card last month here, I’m back this month with a tutorial on the folded chevron technique I used on the bottom of that card!
This time I used the same technique to create a border on a layout about my sweet daughter who likes to dress up and be just like her big sisters. The Little Miss collection from Bo Bunny Press was perfect for this page. Take a look:
Supplies: cardstock, patterned paper, buttons, rub ons, pearls, layered sticker (Bo Bunny Press); cardstock, ribbon (American Crafts); washi tape (Anna Griffin, We R Memory Keepers); paper doilies (Wilton); electronic die cutting machine (Provo Craft); Cricut cartridge (Creative Memories); brown pen (Sharpie)
Here’s how to create the folded chevron stripes:
1. Trim your double sided paper into several 1x2 ½ inch strips. I used 11 strips for each row across the bottom of my layout.
2. Fold opposite corners over and line the edges up evenly as shown. You’ll need to switch corners every other strip so they fit together correctly.
3. Align the folded strips across the bottom of your layout. I created two folded chevron stripes, but you can try doing more or less. You can also try creating vertical or diagonal folded chevron stripes. Play around until your happy with the look.
Tip: you can scale down the size of the strips to fit smaller projects like cards and gifts.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. This technique is easy but packs a big punch on your projects. Give it a try! ~ Aly Dosdall
