I love adding texture and dimension to my cards and pages. The trend in wood veneer shapes are everywhere and here is my DIY version of making your own wood veneer shapes. I use wood veneer cards (I purchased mine at Lee Valley Tools), these veneer cards are thin enough you can use heavy duty lever punches or diecuts to cut out your shapes. Since it’s is natural wood, it takes to stamping and inking beautifully too! To adhere to my project I just use my regular scrapbooking adhesive and foam pop up dots.
Card Supplies: Jillibean Soup pattern paper, Sizzix stamp/die flower set, Hero Arts stamp, Ranger Inks
On my page below, the wide stitched strips behind the photo represent the Karate belt levels my daughter has accomplished. I thought it would be fun to add different sizes of veneer stars stamped with an Asian script to mimic Ninja starts used in her Karate training.
Page Supplies: Bazzill, Webster’s pages, EK success border punch, The Greeting Farm Stamp, Paper Wizard 3D title
I hope this gives you some ideas to make your own veneer shapes, it’s so easy peasy! Have a wonderful day! ~ Virginia Nebel

I bought sheets of wood veneer at my local woodworking store and am playing at getting them through my cricut. The fun part is all the different woods that you can get - I have maple, oak, cherry and walnut to play with right now.
