Have you seen those great stitched paper garlands from BasicGrey and wondered how to use them on a layout? Lisa Dickinson shares a fabulous layout that has the two things she loves...circles and stitching!
Since I almost always add machine stitching to my layouts, I love any type of embellishment that included pre-stitched elements, like these paper garlands from BasicGrey. They save me time but still add that homespun, handmade touch that I love.
On this layout, I used two of the garlands to add a pop of color and pattern to the right of my photos. I adhered the stitched circles using foam squares for a bit of dimension. For added detail and texture, I included additional embellishments over the top of the circle garland, including wood veneer discs, die cut tags, and enamel dots.
And you want to try your hand at creating your own garland, it's really pretty simple! Just punch several circles form patterned paper (usually circles less than 1" work the best!) and stitch them together by slowly feeding them through your sewing machine. Adding in a few differing shapes like hearts, pennants, or stars makes them even more fun and interesting!
AND BIG NEWS...this is off to the printer!
