Sometimes the hardest part of creating a page is figuring out exactly what you want to say! I have made so many layouts about our annual vacation to Mexico that I often find it difficult to write the journaling for them - I feel like I've said it all already! So that's when I turn to my family.
On this page, I simply asked each of them what their favorite part of our vacation was. Using speech bubbles,I recorded their answers next to their photos. It was a simple way to get a new journaling perspective on a layout.
Because I had completed my journaling in no time at all, I was able to spend a bit more time on the design. I focused on using a color palette inspired by the sea and sand. A few swipes of light aqua watercolor across the background was topped with stenciled cross hatching in a darker blue paint. Once dry, I used the same stencil to add some more crosses with an aqua fine-tipped pen.
I layered several squares of patterned paper with distressed edges on top of the painting, and then framed each of the photos with a wood veneer piece. The speech bubbles were created with a stencil as well - I just traced them onto white cardstock and cut them out.
I loved spending a bit more time on the design details and getting creative. And I love that my family voices make an appearance on the page as well!
