Hello everyone! Stacy Cohen here today with a little mini album to share! Summer is ending soon and fall is right around the corner, but I'm not quite ready to put away all of my bright, summer-themed craft products and projects. I created a fall color-schemed mini album for the Scrapbook & Cards Today Fall 2016 issue last year. The title was "Grateful" and it featured pictures of my two daughters. In case you missed it, here's a snippet of the cover.
Since I have two daughters, I sometimes make two versions of scrapbook pages or mini albums when I'm showcasing photos of both of them or of our whole family. That way they will both have the keepsakes when they're older. But it can get a little monotonous to make an exact duplicate of projects, so I always change up the colors, products and embellishments when making a double.
Here is a more summery version of the mini album. I used bright hues of pink, green, blue and orange.
I like to "color outside of the lines" when I create mini albums, meaning I like the embellishments to hang over the edges of the pages. That way you get a little peak at what's to come.
I used my favorite embellishments throughout the album: flowers and bling.
To give the album a lot of tactile appeal, I went totally lumpy bumpy and added a variety of textures like wood, metal, felt, fabric, etc.
Now I'm almost ready to move on to fall projects. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Hey there! I'm BEA Valint and I’m from Hungary, a little country in middle Europe… we have pretty hot summers, spicy foods, and a difficult history… but, we have always been good at coming up with creative solutions for making life easier.
I’m an economist but now I'm a stay-at-home-working-mom to my four lovely kids, three sporty boys and my little girl, Kitti. Happiness ebbs and flows through our lives and I want to capture these unforgettable moments of joy by documenting it so that I can relive those precious moments from time to time. Making mini books or scrapbook pages is also really fun, don't you think? I started off with learning photography and creating Pl albums for my Family and finally fell in love with creating layouts in 2012. My craft room is always open… I create things together with my kids, sometimes friends, but never with my husband... he just enjoys the results :)
Today I am so excited to be guest designer here at Scrapbook & Cards Today blog! Creating mini albums has been one of my preferred scrapbook projects whenever I create. They are just so fun, so easy and super simple to put together! This time round, I decided to create one for my little girl, Kitti, and for her cousin and best friend, Niki. They love to flip the minis. We will talk about the each photos and memories. It brings back a lot of memories for us.
Supplies: Crate Paper/ Heart Day patterned papers, Resin Hearts, and stickers, Crate Paper/ Gather patterned paper, stickers and tassel, Crate Paper/ Cute Girl tassel, ephemera, vellum.
The base of this album consists of paper- and vellum pockets, trimmed patterned papers, chipboard and tags. Making mini albums of our little adventures is so much fun, but we often bring home lots of memorabilia. That's why I LOVE adding pockets into my albums! For this album I created three different pockets using patterned paper and vellum.
I embellished the pages only with some pieces of ephemera, stickers, ribbons, washi tapes and tassels. For adding more dimensions I stitched around some tags. The best thing about a ring-bound book is that you can continue to add pages as you go along!
Creating unique embellishments gives an awesome personal touch to your album. I never miss to create some pages just for fun, without any photos. Its a great way for me to combine memory keeping with creativity without any rules.
One more tip: Add more different materials to your album. For this shaker box I used tulle, it holds the sequins perfectly and looking so pretty!
I've enjoyed sharing my favorite ways for making a playful and memorable mini album with you. Join me to see how I filled up and decorated this mini album:
