Reader's Submission: Barb Wong

We loved this fun Disney page from Barb Wong of Ottawa, ON. What a unique way to display multiple photos from a Disney vacation. To create the template for Mickey’s head, Barb used a compass on the back of the patterned paper. She then cut it out by hand, and inked the edges for dimension. To allow the photos to take center stage, Barb used a neutral background—very effective!

Designer Challenge Monday - Michelle Engel

Hi there, everyone! Catherine and Kerry would like to take a second to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who came to visit us over the last two weeks (at Scrapfest two weekends ago, or at the Creativ Festival this past weekend).  Both events were extremely fun, BUSY, and inspiring as always.

On another note, National Scrapbooking Day is quickly approaching. On Saturday, May 2nd, join us to celebrate this great day! We will have lots of inspiring ideas to share, as well as a FABULOUS giveaway!

And now back to our regular programming…

I'm challenging you to pull out your cameras and capture something that is totally “spring! We have a field by our house that, every spring, becomes a yellow sheet of dandelions. The kids couldn't resist playing in the field and picking bouquets, and I of course couldn't resist photographing them!!

Today, we would like to showcase a beautifully simple layout from Jennifer Hottinger-Sloan. We loved the way Jennifer angled different elements on the page to create a playful and whimsical feeling. Also, check out Jennifer’s creative use of pearls and fun dots to add both dimension and colour. Simply beautiful!

What Jennifer particularly loved about this layout is the base paper (by Kelly Panacci for Sandylion). The printed text on the paper reads: “It is in the brief moments of our everyday lives that we find memories to last a life time. Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. Use your precious moments to life fully every single second of every single day.”
