We’d like to give a very warm welcome to designer Allison Cope who is joining us as our guest designer of the week on the SCT blog. Allison always has such great ideas and innovative techniques to share! Here she is with her challenge:
This week I wanted to touch a little bit on hybrid scrapbooking. What’s hybrid scrapbooking you ask? It’s basically combining the art of digital scrapbooking on your computer with the traditional paper scrapbooking. I wanted to show you how EASY it is to do!
So I printed a sample page of 3 different digital papers from the Paradise Collection (Ava Paper Set) by Carina Gardner.
I first opened each of the 12x12 digital papers in my Photoshop program. I opened a new document in an 8.5x11 format so I could easily print it on my home printer. I duplicated and resized my digital papers to all fit on my 8.5x11 document. I merged my layers down and saved it as a jpeg file. Then I printed my sheet on plain, smooth cardstock on my printer.
This is how my page looked when I printed it out:
Next I cut the large block of blue backed patterned paper, cut a scalloped black cardstock edging for it and stitched it together.
Then I took the other two small blocks of patterned papers and die cut a variety of different flowers using some QuicKutz dies. From the left over pieces, I stamped 2 butterflies from myStamp BOX “Coloful Companions” stamp set in black ink overtop of the two different patterns. I then hand cut them out leaving a small border of paper around each image. I even cut a triangle photo corner and stitched some details on it.
I then assembled my pieces to create a simple and girlie layout about my niece.
