Happy Monday, everyone! Has everyone had a chance to check out the summer issue of SCT yet? If not, you can download it right here! To everyone who has, thank you SO very much for your lovely comments! We read and appreciate each and every one!
This week, we are so pleased to welcome Kathy Thompson Laffoley (aka our new Contributing Photo Editor) to the blog as our guest designer of the week! Welcome Kathy!!! Here she is with her first ever SCT blog challenge:
Hey everyone!! I am so excited to be a part of the SCT team, and I am equally excited about my first blog post!!
My pages are more often than not photo-based. I almost always start them with a photo and go from there. One of my favourite types of photos is a detail shot, and I think that with the right kind of detail shot you can tell your story in one or two images.
My daughter Emma plays rugby, of all things. Throughout the season I take hundreds of action shots. If you’ve ever watched this game, then you know how rough it is. By the end of their season, they’re bruised and tired and sore—this is not a game for the faint of heart!
During the very last game of the season, this was more than apparent! Not only were their shins and knees covered in bruises, but also a few of them had cleat imprints on the backs of their legs!!! Ouch! So I forgot the game and set about capturing details of their season and this crazy sport—details that tell the story in a single image—like grit bruises and dirt!!
So my challenge to you is to tell your story using a detail shot—what does using a detail shot on your page do to help further define your story? I think in this case a picture is indeed worth a thousand words!
true grit

Your pages are always so interesting, because you have such amazing photos on them! And yes, this one is no different, and certainly tells the story. Love the title too, it is so much a part of the story.
