Design Team Project - Lisa Kisch

For our winter issue, I created a layout called “Winter Wardrobe”. I took photos of some of my favourite baby clothes-- cords and sweaters, pink boots, etc, and cropped them into squares so that I could punch them out with a square punch once printed. Rather than add titles to these photos with letter stickers or rub-ons, I added text directly to the photos in Picasa.

Designer Challenge Monday - Lisa Kisch

We scrapbookers love our alphabets, don’t we? I am obsessed with letter stickers, and I add to my collection all the time. As a result, I have many half used packages of letter stickers, often with few vowels which makes it hard to make words. To use some of them up, I created this layout about singing the ABC’s to my children! I love the combination of colours and textures from all the different alphabets. (I also used up some patterned paper scraps by punching squares to back the letters on.)

So here is your challenge: Combine letter stickers from different packages on one page---try getting a whole alphabet on there! The effect is eclectic and fun, and it’s super satisfying to use up some of those alphas that might otherwise just sit in your stash indefinitely!

Here are some other ways you can help right from your cell phone:

 

Rogers Wireless and Fido customers are encouraged to help those in Haiti by donating to Partners In Health: Haiti and other Haitian relief organizations. By sending the text message "HELP" to shortcode 1291 beginning today, customers can donate $5.00 CDN to the Haitian relief efforts. Rogers is working with The ONEXONE Foundation to facilitate 100 per cent of donations in funds and goods to Partners In Health: Haiti and other Haitian relief organizations.  For more information on this relief initiative click here.

 

Wireless customers of AT&T can send $10 donations to the Red Cross International Relief Fund by sending a text message from their mobile device. AT&T customers will not be charged for texts sent to Haiti relief efforts. A customer simply types the word HAITI and sends it to 90999. A confirmation message will arrive within a few minutes, to which the customer replies “yes” to finalize the donation. 100 percent of all money donated will be passed on to the Red Cross.  For more information on this relief initiave click here.
