Good Monday morning blog friends! So glad you could join us as this is going to be another great week on the blog. One of our great friends, Paula Gilarde, will be joining us today, tomorrow and Wednesday to provide some expert hybrid scrapbooking tips and tricks! We have been a fan of Paula's for a long time, especially for her use of hybrid elements on her pages. You are in for an enlightening week! Enjoy...
Hi everyone - I'm thrilled to be here this week for Monday's Designer Challenge. I like to think of myself as an equal opportunity scrapbooker - I love both traditional paper and digital scrapbooking. In fact, my favorite kind of scrapping incorporates both paper AND digital scrapbooking, i.e. hybrid scrapbooking. I know the term hybrid scrapbooking can scare people off but really, it's just as simple as using your computer in any way for scrapbooking.
Today I'm going to challenge you to use a specific digital element on your page. You don't even need to have some fancy-schmancy photo editing software to play along. All you need is something like Word!
Supplies used: Coredinations cardstock, Jillibean Soup patterned paper, Sassafras Lass patterned paper and sticker, Fonts - Pea Stacy's New Doodles and Clementine Sketch, Elmers Painters
I used a dingbat font to create a fun custom embellishment for my page. Dingbat fonts are fonts that uses small pictures instead of letters. In this case the little "R" was a cute rainbow/cloud image. I printed it onto cardstock, cut it out and colored it in using markers. The font I used was "Pea Stacy's New Doodles" which I downloaded from http://www.kevinandamanda.com/fonts/ but you can do this with any dingbat style font. I also printed out my title and colored that in using markers -- I thought it added another fun element to the page.
Why don't you try creating your own embellishment using a dingbat font. Tune in tomorrow where I where I will share other ways to use your computer when you scrapbook!
Thank you Paula for a great introduction to dingbat fonts! Now as we promised on Friday, here is a sneak peek of the cover of our new spring issue set to release in stores and on our website (yes you can download it for free!) this Friday, March 26th! So full of spring goodness!
