Be advised. August is almost here! For some that means…SCHOOL. For others, fire season and the heat of the summer (I’m in this group). And for others…Fall? Spring? What’s it like down under?
The end of the month means another edition of Project 12. I enjoyed the June sketch this month:
And this is what I came up with this month:
I had a lot of fun with this sketch and my color palette this month. I really liked the mix of blue, yellow, and red. I was also really happy to have a fun place to use those tickets from October Afternoon.
This sketch provided a great layout for my end of the school year photos, and I added an additional photo to round out the happenings at my house.
As always, I was really inspired by what I saw linked on the blog here and in the Facebook album. Here are some special touches to point out:
I loved this one from Roslyn:
I love the cluster of embellies, the use of older product, and the horizontal stripes. I really like those flowers too.
I wanted to also make sure to share Mary’s layout this month. Mary is a digital scrapper, and while I don’t scrap digitally, I would think using a sketch would be an ideal way for digital scrapbookers to create layouts:
I love the incorporation of extra photos on this layout, as well as the multi colored stitching. I’m grabbing my DMC floss and doing that by hand, SOON. I love the different colors together on this layout.
I can’t help myself. I’m obsessed with Shelly’s work so had to include it this month. I love every single precious inch. I love how she did her journaling with tone on tone strips, I love the placement of the dark brown elements, love the extra photos, and the cluster of circular embellies. LOVE. One of my favorite things about Shelly’s contributions is that this isn’t current. This layout is from 2008?, maybe 2009. I love that she went back in time to participate on this project.
There is a lot to look at in this next one from Julie:
I love the texture and interest created with that masked image behind the journaling. I like the doodling, and the black photo mats and all of the photos she included. I love the memorabilia and the fun summer papers she chose too. This is a fun one!
The color palette and clean lines from Erica’s layout drew me right in:
I love the use of fluorishes, the photos she chose, and all her pen work. It really adds a lot to the layout!
One more:
I’ve mentioned Ally before but it’s worth doing so again because of how easy she makes this challenge. Every month, Ally creates a simple collage of photos, and then has it printed and puts it on an 8.5 x 11 layout to recap her month. I love her monthly collage photos and how uniform it must make her monthly album look.
Ladies, thank you so much for participating despite how busy this time of year is! I was so happy to see so many contributions. For your efforts let’s give away a couple of prizes!
From my blog: Melanie (http://buildwisely.blogspot.com/)
And from SCT: Mica (http://scrapbookedmoments.blogspot.com/)
Congratulations! Thanks again for playing along!
August should prove to be another busy month, but I have a lot of July photos to play with, which makes the next sketch so fun:
And looking ahead, here is the sketch for August!!!
(a printable pdf is available at our website at www.scrapbookandcards.com)
Would you like to know what we are playing for this month? ADHESIVE! Every girl needs a little adhesive so we thought we would give you A LOT of adhesive because that is just who we are...lol. Two winners (one from my blog and one from this one!) will win a selection of the new This to That adhesive from American Crafts! Rolls, runners, pop dots...oh my!
AND because our dear friend Grant from American Crafts is so generous, while the SCT team was at CHA Grant offered two Patterned Albums for two people for complete all of the Project 12 sketches and share them with us at the end of the year. We will have more details later but wanted to give you even more incentive to get them completed! These albums are beautiful....
or maybe this one suits you better? The choice is yours!
Remember, you have until August 20 to link your July layout to this thread when we released the July sketch, and/or the August 1 blog post on my blog (http://davinie.blogspot.com) if you want to be entered in for the prize. You can also email your creations to ideas@scrapbookandcards.com to be included in the Facebook gallery. Ever check out the Facebook gallery? It’s really inspiring. See it here.
Have a great month!
~ Davinie
ps...confused as to where to link your sketch? Always link the month you are working on to the post when that sketch was revealed! If you are playing for a prize that month, link it by the 20th of the next month. For example: July's sketch should be linked to the post when the July sketch was revealed on or before August 20. Super simple!
Oh, happy day! Thank you so much for featuring my digital layout! That totally made my day, and my sweet kiddos got a kick out of seeing their pictures on the computer!!
I am so thrilled to have found this project, and excited to report that I am right on track with six months completed! I started scrapbooking on paper and still like to throw a paper layout together every once in a while, but I really started making progress when I start dabbling in digital -- easier on the clean-up and more portable for me. I miss traditional scrapbooking sometimes, but right now captured memories is the goal... Thanks for all your efforts and all the inspiration!

I've tried to send two emails to this email mentioned above::: info@scrapbookandcards.com
It won't go through??? So I have no choice but to ask my silly question here:::
Thanks for the sketches--I always enjoy playing along--I just am super confused as to how to play along and where to post and why I post on two blogs???
I'm so sorry! I am super confused as to where I post my creations. I've wanted to play along for fun (and this time--who wouldn't want to win a prize of adhesives!!).....but I don't know when and where to post/link.
Here is what I know--create my project from the sketch provided (the sketch I'm working on is the butterfly or the owl one??? I'm not sure--there were three sketches on THIS post.) And then I post it on two blogs--???
That is it! I don't know much other than that. Please let me know and I promise I will write all the directions down so I remember and play along again!!
Thanks so much!
Have a great day:)
Sincerely,
Sav

I'm not sure how to post my layouts either to get in on the contest. I went to both blogs and I don't see anywhere to send them to.

Ladies, you post your work on your blog or in a gallery and link them here, or you attach your layout to an email and send it to info@scrapbookandcards.com and they will be added to the Facebook album for the sketch.
You link your layouts in the month of August to this thread, and if you want a second chance at a prize, you link your layout to my August 1 post at davinie.blogspot.com
Shelly, I LOVE your layouts every month!

All done my August layout - I ended up making a mirror image of the priginal sketch. I also split some of the larger photos into sizes for smaller photos so I could get more photos on my page. With two young kids we tend to take a lot of pics.

Here is my August LO, I loved the bright, hot summer colours of the papers, but had so many photos for August I needed to fiddle and adapt the sketch a little
