Why do you scrapbook? We all do it for all kinds of reasons – I suppose preserving our memories is tops on most everyone’s list. This is just one of the many reasons I love to scrapbook. I also am a lifelong crafter. I have always enjoyed the hands on process of being creative. Ultimately, I love the process.
If you remember my mini album article from the summer issue I mentioned trying misting for the first time. I have a list of various techniques I have always wanted to try on my layouts. Sometimes I need a little extra push to remind myself to step outside my comfort zone every once and awhile.
My current list of out of the norm ideas to play with include:
• Working more with enlarged photos
• Go Hybrid – play with altering photos more or use brushes to create a custom look to cardstock
• Play more with misting
• Hand journaling
• Layer embellishments more
• Play with Text
• Use my Pink Paislee House of 3 paper
• Incorporate more stamping on my layouts
• Use more vellum
• Alter something
A while back I challenged myself to incorporate more machine stitching on my layouts and cards. At the time I had been on a hand stitching kick. This was the result… BTW I have been machine stitching ever since!
(Supplies Used: Cardstock Bazzill/Core’Dinations, Patterned Paper/Stickers Little Yellow Bicycle, brads from Basic Grey, metal accent American Crafts, butterflies/stick pins Jenni Bowlin, alphas Jillibean Soup, Stamping Up Punches, Harlequin Cuttlebug Die, font Arial Narrow)
This week I challenge you to take a walk on the wild side and try something outside your comfort zone. It could be something as simple as changing up the size of photos you scrapbook or as complex as trying a digital scrapbooking layout for the first time. Join me on Wednesday and I will share a little something new to me with you. Have a great day!
