DON'T INCLUDE ME!
I have several Pal's (including 1 metric) and 3 Buddy's. I use them to teach classes.
I just got one of the new Scor-Pal. It just makes things a lot easier in my normal crafting. I use mine every day for crafting. New Studio Calico "Countryside"

On Monday I shared bits and pieces of State Fair, one of the two winter releases from Studio Calico.  Today I wanted to share a few new things from Countryside, the second collection debuting at the winter show.

 

A little about the line:

Whether you like to frolic in the meadow or just stop and smell the wild flowers, we think you’ll find Countryside to be all you’ll need to shake cabin fever and inspire a grand new adventure. We’ve brought all that we love about the outdoors into a full release of patterned papers, stickers, FabRips, Tags, Notions, Flowers, RubOns, chipboard alphas, wood veneer, as well as 5 new Mister Huey’s Mists to match it all.

Here’s a little nibble at the product in this line with a card:

 

 

I used the Harvest and Barn Swallow prints on this card.  I also used a nibble of the fun new fabrips.  One of the changes this release is 3x12 self adhesive fabric strips in a few different color choices.

 

Also used on this card are the new Countryside chipboard alphas:

And I had to try out the new Mister Huey’s on my veneer heart (I used Bonny Blue here).

Lastly, I topped my card with a sweet pink notion flower.

 
Want to recreate this card? 
1. Trim the standard sized card base, 4.25 x 5.5
2. Trim your main print at 4x 4.5”
3. Trim your smaller print at 1x 4 and use a border punch on one side.
4. Trim a small section of fabrips, or use another patterned paper for a slim strip that is 4 inches wide.
5. Ink all edges and layer.
6. Tie it up with twine and layer your heart, flower, label sticker, and sentiment chipboard alphas.

Hybrid tip - customized cake decorations with Paula!

My daughter requested a rock star birthday when she turned 8, along with a rock star cake. Not being a very proficient cake decorator I went on a shopping mission to find some suitable rock star decorations. To my dismay there were none to be found. Then I had a brain wave - digital supplies to the rescue!

New Studio Calico with Davinie!

Good Monday morning!  We hope everyone had a great weekend and are ready for a creative week.  One of the fun parts of CHA (our industry trade show where all new products are showcased) being around the corner is seeing the sneak peeks of all the beautiful new designs we will see popping up in stores in the spring and summer.  Today Davinie shares one of the brand new Studio Calico collections with us...State Fair!

"For the winter release, Studio Calico has two new collections to debut, starting with State Fair:

 

Step right up and check out the latest release, State Fair. Imagine strolling the midway at the state fair taking in the sights and sounds … the textures and colors pop with inspiration. This release evokes the feeling of grandiose sideshows, world famous attractions, and hand printed posters of old. State Fair includes 7 patterned papers, a die-cut paper, alpha & label stickers, a chipboard alpha, die-cut tags, FabRips, and a brand new batch of Mister Huey's Mists to match everything. I used the Pie Contest and Sideshow prints to create this fun spring card:

 

 

New to the booth this show are more veneer shapes, including the butterflies seen here. 

 
 
They come in package of 20, and are the perfect accent to your pages, cards, or décor projects.

Also new this show are a fun set of alphabet stickers called Addy.  These coordinate with both new lines and can be found in pink, green, and orange woodgrain. 

 
 

Want to recreate this card?

1. Trim a card base to create a 4.25 x 5.5” card.
2. Trim your larger print at 4.25 x 4 inches and use a border punch on your longer side, making this piece approximately 4x4 square.
3. Trim your smaller print at 4 inches wide by 1.5 inches. 
4. Layer the large print over the smaller.  Tie a ribbon in a knot, adhere, and stitch.
5. Add a label sticker (the blue one used here is from the State Fair label sheet).  Attach an embellishment like flowers or butterflies as I’ve done for this example.
6. Apply your title to the bottom right.

Scor-Pal & Scor-Buddy giveaway!

 Happy Friday!  Has it felt like a long week or a short week?  As we are full speed ahead on our spring issue and a "special" issue (cardmakers you are going to love this!), this week has flown by and already it's Friday.  Did everyone see Virginia's great Onion Envelope tutorial on Tuesday?  In that tutorial there was a specific tool you needed to help make all the score lines so guess what we have to give away today?  A Scor-Pal AND a Scor-Buddy!  Yes, we've got not one but two giveaways today!

First, a Scor-Buddy...

 

The Scor-Buddy was designed for card makers on the go and has grooves every 1/4" across the board, plus 1/8" grooves for the first and last inch of the board. It measures approx. 9" x 7.5" and has a fence down the left side. A free Scor-Tool is included in the snap-in holder and it comes with its own faux ultra suede carry tote. There is also a special Mini Mat, cutting surface on one side, stamping surface on the other side.

Second, a Scor-Pal...

 

The new and improved SCOR-PAL is here! What makes it new and improved?  We asked that question and here is what we learned:

1. Intelligent grove spacing; a perfect combination of 1/4"AND 1/8" GROOVES and the usual grooves and markings for specialty cards and folds. Makes card making easy and fun!
2. The 6" groove has markings to orientate yourself.
3.  Like the Scor-Buddy a handy magnetized area for metal brads, etc.
4. Top ruler markings are coloured and easier to read.
5. Envelope instruction booklet with oodles of envelope sizes is included.
6.  New colour - light blue like the Scor-Buddy.
