Hi! Karen again. Today I wanted to share a layout I've done to commemorate a project my family is doing for 2011.
Last year, I realized that there were almost no photos of me with my kids and only one photo of all four of us. So, this year we are taking full-family photos each weekend. We sit on a chair and use a remote clicker. These sessions have turned into a lot of laughter and hugging time, so now not only do I get fantastic photos of my whole family but we also make some great memories along with them. These two photos come from one session and you can see how much we all laugh in the process.
If you've never cut your diecut papers, I encourage you to give it a try. It's fun to use the shaped edge on the layout itself. I cut the other side as well, and put it on the opposite end of my layout so it would bracket my title and journaling.
Here are some more details. I love these fluttering butterflies.
I used a color combination that's new to me on this layout. The orangish yellow and gray came directly from the photo. The deep pink was also in the photo but harder to see. My husband's shirt has lettering that is the same color on its edges. I like picking colors that are barely visible in my photos and pulling them out by using them on my page.
And like always, I've also put something on the edges of my layouts to make sure the white background doesn't have your eyes wandering off my page. A few little butterflies are all you need to guide you back into the title and photos.
Thank you so much for letting me share my layouts with you this week! And don't for get about my class giveaway. Leave a comment on this post!

Karen, this is such a happy lo!! I love your challenge to take more family photos!! What a great idea. These turned out so great! And I am inspired by your idea of cutting the die cut. I'm always so "scared" to do that for fear of "ruining" it. Now you have changed my mindset!! Thanks girl!!

Super ideas on your layout. I really like the cut shapes: using them in a different way. Love out of the box thinking.

I love your layouts. Your family photo project is so important. Just recently I was given the rest of my family photos. I have only found one of the four of us (my parents, brother and I). I make sure a family photo is part of every full-family gathering now that my daughter and her husband live on the west coast and we live on the east coast. You can never have too many, and it's so sad when there are so few.

LOVE the LO! Too clever the way you used the die cut paper to bracket your title! The colors definitely lead your eye back to the adorable family photos! Cherish those memories!
