Good morning! It's Leica and I'm back with a little more show & tell featuring Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist! I am often asked how to use this great product so I thought I would break down how I created this layout.
Supplies: Prima flowers & alphabets, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, American crafts thickers & slick writer, Bazzill Cardstock, Crafter's Workshop stencil
I like blending my backgrounds with a few colours so I start with the lightest colour and generally in the middle. For best results, I ALWAYS work from lightest to darkest and will often come back in at the end to add more light to help blend if needed. I like the sheer colours like iridescent gold or old lace as they blend well. Let the background dry completely in between steps to maintain the most shimmer. *note: If you are in a hurry, you can iron your paper by placing it between some non printed paper. (If you use a newspaper the words could transfer to your page. Yes, it HAS happened to me!)
Next I took a Crafter's Workshop Stencil and placed it half off the page.
Then I lightly sprayed my 3 favourite colours over the stencil.
This is what it looks like when you take the stencil off.
Then I sprayed all my Prima white flowers and let them dry completely. I did want them quite saturated in colour to really shine so they were sprayed a few times. I laid down all my photos, then started layering and arranging the flowers around the photos. Here is a closeup of the dragonfly in the top left corner.
Here are 2 more closeups of the flowers
Here are a few "tips" for working with Glimmer Mist:
• Shake it from side to side as opposed to up and down. Shake it for about 12-15 seconds. You will notice when it is ready cause the bottle will have an intense colour and there won't be any more sediment on the bottom.
• Spray a practice spray OFF the sheet. This will tell you if the nozzle is clogged. I usually spray left to right.
• To get a nice even coverage I spray about 8 inches above the page, and I will start OFF the page at the left and spray all across the page in one spray. I try not to stop in the middle of a spray. COMMIT to the MIST! Spray again to achieve the intensity level you desire.
• If you get the dots that you may not want, try not to spray as fast. Hold the bottle a little more vertical than horizontal, and try a little further away from the page.
Here are some additional projects I created using the Glimmer Mist...
I hope some of these tips and tricks come in handy as you play with misting. Now head on over to the Tattered Angels blog HERE for an opportunity to win some fabulous products! You can also join them on Facebook HERE. Be sure to tell them SCT sent you! And, I heard that there may be a little Tattered Angels giveaway here on Friday...just sayin'!
