Hi everyone! I'm back with another Mother's Day project to share with you all today. I decided to decorate a 4 x 6" frame, and I stayed with the pocket theme from Monday too!
For this project, I used my Pink Paislee supplies from the Soiree, Hometown Summer, and Daily Junque collections.
I painted the frame with acrylic paint, multiple coats, and let it dry completely. Then, I added strips of patterned paper to frame the picture window.
For the Chalkboard Sticker, I used the reverse pattern of a die-cut and stenciled the hearts on it with multiple coats of acrylic paint. (The paint adheres really well to the Chalkboard Stickers.)
I let the paint completely dry, and then added machine stitching to outline the hearts. For this, I cut out the sticker and left the package backing attached. I didn't want the sticker exposed, since it was going to be a pocket, and I wanted to be able to add items and take them out later without them sticking.
I hand-stitched along the top edge of the sticker. Then, I trimmed off the rest of the exposed backing to the sticker. On a patterned paper panel the same size at the back panel of the frame, I attached the sticker. I placed a button under the top edge of the sticker to leave a little slack, so that I would have enough room to add things to the pocket. I removed the button after I pierced all of the holes for the hand stitching, and then I finished hand stitching the sticker to the panel. I adhered the panel to the back of the frame, and then I attached the back panel back to the frame.
For the flowers, I bent the flag pins near the top and shortened two of them with tin snips. Then, I cut out a bunch of flower die-cuts with my Cricut Expression and Walk in My Garden cartridge, layered them onto the pin , and fluffed them up.
I also attached a banner to one of the flag pins, and added 'Mom' with letter stickers and a button. And then I added the flowers, banner, and a few leaf shapes to the pocket to finish.
This would be a great project to involve your kids with for Mother's Day. You can make the frame and pocket, and then let your kids make some flowers to add to the pocket. You will have a project you cherish even more because your kids helped to create it.
I hope you enjoyed the projects that I shared with you this week. I want to thank Catherine and you all for having me as a guest on the blog. I have enjoyed really enjoyed it. Thanks so much, and I hope you all have a wonderful Mother's Day!" ~ Roree
