Happy Tuesday everyone, I hope you are having a wonderful summer soaking up some sun and cooking up a bbq storm. Don’t use up all that aluminum foil wrapping potatoes for the bbq because you want to save some for your crafting projects! Today I’d like to share with you a fun way to make your own metallic looking embellishments. So grab that roll of kitchen foil, some double-sided tape, your favourite diecut or punch, paper, and some Copic markers.
Unroll your double-side tape and place paper (cut to size of your diecut or punch) onto the tape.
Turn over, peel away the wax backing to expose the other side of the tape and apply your foil to the tape.
Roll through your diecut.
Colour on top of the foil with your Copic markers. For my example, I coloured mostly in green and the scallop tips in brown. Voila! You end up with a very realistic metal embellishment. The wonderful thing is that you get the look of metal without the extra weight making it very easy to adhere to your projects.
Here is my finished card. For the butterflies I used two Copic colours. First I coloured in blue and then coloured in brown. I really like the tarnished vintage effect of combining the colours.
Supplies: Crate pattern paper, Sizzix diecuts, Copic Markers
Hope you have fun adding some ‘metal’ to your projects! ~ Virgina Nebel
