Text on a Path is a fun feature in Photoshop that allows you to have you text follow (or fill) a specified shape. In my layout I had my text wrap around a square.
You can also use the same technique for a rectangle, circle, oval or any other shape. The bad news is that this technique is for Photoshop users only -- Text on Path is not available in Photoshop Elements, but PSE users can use text paths that have been created in Photoshop in PSE which is almost as good!
Photoshop (for those of you who want to do it yourselves!)
1. Create a new file in Photoshop (mine was 12x12, 300 dpi)
2. Using the Rectangular Marquee tool (I set the style options to fixed size, 10x10 inches), draw a square on your layout.
3. Right mouse click on your selection and select "make work path", hit ok.
4. With the Horizontal Type tool selected, hover your mouse over the outside edge of your square (work path). The cursor will look like a circle. That shows that you are ready to type.
5. Print!
Photoshop Elements
1. Create a new file in Photoshop (mine was 11x8.5, 300 dpi)
2. Find a text path template in the shape you want to use. Pattie Knox at Designer Digitals has a wide variety of text path templates called "Text Bytes" Open the template and drag the path onto your layout.
3. Select the text layer and replace the sample text with your own.
4. Print and add to your layout.
A quick Google search of "text path templates" turns up a LOT of different options in all kinds of different shapes. Tune in next month when I'll show you another more complex example of text paths, with instructions of course!

Great instructions. I have always worked with Photoshop and did not realize that Photoshop Elements did not have this option but can get around the issue when using a text path template. Will have to pass this onto a few of my "digial" friends!
