Happy Monday! Did you have a great weekend? Were you able to get outside to take some fall photos? We had a beautiful weekend here in Southern Ontario and with the colours just starting to come out, there were some pretty great photo opportunities! We also hope you took a few minutes to pick up or download our fall issue on Friday! And if you didn't leave a comment on our blog Friday...you should!
We are excited to have Virginia joining us to day with some great recycling ideas! Take it away Virginia...
"Now that the kids are settled into their school routine I thought it would be fun to host this week’s designer challenge using school paper. Are the registration forms and newsletters flooding your child’s backpack? How about recycling some of these papers into your paper crafting.
On my first card I used lined and graph paper. I like how the clean and linear look pops off the pattern paper.
For the flowers I used the Sizzix 3-D flower die. I find this die easier to use with thicker material like felt. I applied double sided tape to the felt and graph paper on the other side. I rolled this through the die cut and because I wanted to end up with a smaller sized flower I trimmed a little off the end first.
How about those neon papers, just use your punch or diecuts and voila you have instant script pattern paper.
Supplies: Pattern Paper- Basic Grey, American Crafts. Diecuts-Sizzix, Accucut.
Have a great week! I’ll be back Wednesday with another fun project.
Hugs, Virginia
so much cooler than just throwing that stuff into the blue box! thanks for sharing.

This is really cool and the card is so beautiful. Love the little birdcage, and it looks awesome with the recycled paper too.

I've been using packaging from craft stuff I buy, even cutting down the plastic and saving it, along with pieces that would make great shaker cards. I also like to guesstimate on stuff I see in blogworld and try to make it my own.

now that would be a great use for those out of date school newsletters (I get 2 copies each week - one per child).
Thank You

Guess I was ahead of my time as I have been using scraps for many years. Your example is excellent. Good to introduce others to on how to save money & still make gorgeous cards! The problem for me is to store all the great recyled paper products.
Keep up the good work!
