Hello, it's Emily Pitts with the Wednesday Designer Project for you. Using the sketch for World Card Making Day, I wanted to show you how to make a window with floating greeting in it. It's really very easy.
First you need the following supplies:
- paper in three autumn colors (not pictured)
- a card base
- a leaf punch
- twine
- a scrap piece of cardstock for your greeting (not pictured)
- liquid adhesive
- a chipboard circle (I used Maya Road's Foundation Pieces)
- embossing powder
- watermark ink
- a heat gun
- a pen
- scissors (not pictured)
Now take your chipboard circle and trace inside the circle (if you don't have the chipboard, you can use a piece of cardstock instead). Cut out just larger than the circle, as shown.
Write or stamp your sentiment on the scrap cardstock. Cut out and cut a second piece the same size. Glue the two pieces together, sandwiching a 3 inch strip of twine between them. Then run a bead of glue around the outside of the hole, place your sentiment in the middle, hold in place as shown.
While your sentiment is drying, emboss your chipboard circle, then attach with a bit more glue. Trim the ends of the twine off, you don't have to be exact, you can hide any ends under the leaves.
Next you'll punch your leaves. I punched about 17 small ones and glued them down in a random falling pattern, making sure some fell off the page. I popped a few of them with a foam adhesive to add more dimension.
Once you have all your leaves applied, trim off any leaf bits that are hanging off the edge of the card, and you are done! Happy Autumn!
