I’m excited to be back today to share a closer look at my “Celebrate Spring” layout that's currently featured in the “what’s next?” section of the winter issue. It showcases a collage of some of my very favorite springtime photos, as well as the beautiful Vintage Vogue collection by Pink Paislee.
Layout Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned Paper, Die Cuts, Paper Rosettes, Chipboard Accents: Pink Paislee; Letter Stickers: American Crafts; Veneer Butterflies: Studio Calico, Pins: Webster’s Pages; Sticker: KI Memories; Baker’s Twine: Doodlebug Designs; Marker: Copic; Flower Punches: Marvy Uchida; Vellum: Papertrey Ink; Glitter: Stickles by Ranger
We all love pre-made embellishments. They are beautiful to look at, quick and easy to use, and come in practically every design and texture imaginable. They are positively perfect as is. However, on occasion I like to mix things up and add my very own personal touch.
The wooden veneers by Studio Calico are one of my very favorite go-to embellishments...especially the butterflies. I opted to make mine stand out even more by coloring them in with a brown Copic marker. By doing so, it mimics the gorgeous look of actual stained wood. I then backed them with a decorative pin accent, and adhered a light pink gemstone to the center. Securing them to my page with adhesive foam, adds even more wonderful dimension.
I also made a sight modification to the beautiful paper rosettes by Pink Paislee that I used on my layout. I wanted to introduce an additional touch of "pink" to my design, so I removed the existing tops, and replaced them with Pink Paislee’s Vintage Vogue chipboard accents. Next, I applied a hint of glitter to the center to add some wonderful sparkle and shine. For a finishing touch, and to make them even more prominent on my page, I layered them atop simple opaque flowers punched from white vellum.
Sometimes, all it takes is a few quick and easy steps to create something that's truly unique, and if you're like me, you'll find the creative process extremely fun and enjoyable. :)
As an extra add on to today's post, I also wanted to share with you the coordinating "thank you" card that I created using all of the wonderful bits and pieces that remained on my desk after designing my layout. Creating a card immediately afterwards is the perfect way to make use of all those tiny scraps that are almost too small to save!
Card Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics; Patterned Paper, Die Cuts, Chipboard Accents: Pink Paislee; Pin: Maya Road; Baker’s Twine: Doodlebug Designs; Rub On: Pebbles; Flower Punches: Marvy Uchida; Vellum: Papertrey Ink; Glitter: Stickles by Ranger
Thank you so much for joining me this week! Be sure to take me up on Monday's "happy mail" challenge and send a card to a special someone this week!

Thank you for the idea with the butterfly. I had just completed a layout of my in laws and had attached a butterfly. I felt it needed something extra and voila- the idea of a beaded pin. I added it to the layout and wow, just a tiny embellishment made all the difference.
