A few weeks ago now I had the pleasure of teaching several classes at Crop & Create Markham. In one of my card classes I demonstrated how to paint and emboss chipboard to give it some *POP* on projects. In light of the fact that Valentine’s Day is next week I thought I would whip up some quick and fun tags for loved ones!
For this project I used a few sets of Maya Road’s Shipping Tag Coasters. Maya Road chipboard offers a nice thickness which allows you to pass it through a Sizzix Big Shot embossing machine inside an embossing folder.
When setting up your chipboard for embossing, place it inside an embossing folder. For a Big Shot, flip out Tab 1 and 2 and place the chipboard/embossing folder on top of one cutting pad in the middle of the platform and another cutting pad on top.
Now you just need to either paint, ink or mist the embossed chipboard to match your project. For extra *POP*, be sure to include foam layering tape when attaching the chipboard to your projects.
My 7-year old daughter, Ema, and I had fun trying to come up with clever sayings for our Valentine’s Day tags. I adore her “Monkey see, monkey love, Valentine!” saying. Enjoy!
Supplies: Fancy Pants patterned paper, Maya Road chipboard and chain, Stampin’ Up! stamps and embossing folders, Sizzix Big Shot and embossing folders, Cuttlebug/ProvoCraft embossing folders, Deco Art paint, EK Success black marker, Tsukineko ink, American Crafts layering tape, Xyron Creatopia (to adhere paper to chipboard), Font: Catchup.
Happy Valentines! ~ Sarah Hodgkinson

I love this idea and hadn't really thought of doing this before. Would it work in a Cuttlebug too?
