It's Wednesday already and here I am with that" Upcycle" project I talked about here on Monday. I had so much fun creating something from pieces that were destined for the trash and bits that were lonely singles from the end of an embellishment pack! To get started I emptied out my little box of treasures and sorted through them. This is what I ended up making...
I love these mini trays from 7 Gypsies and all of my scraps filled it perfectly with the addition of a little bit of paper and a title!
Here are a few steps to show you how I put together the pieces.
To start I layered some paper left over from a misting, masking and stamping project I did. The green paper was from my stash. The chipboard page was left over from a masking project I did for Designer's Notebook. It was stamped with art medium and misted to create a resist.
These butterflies are cardboard die diecuts. They are cast off from a technique I did for Creative Foundations. I tore some of the paper off of one and stamped it with my handy dandy script stamp. The ruler bits are just bits I had hanging around.
This butterfly is an extra from Creative Foundations. The technique is all about using vellum. The tags are loose Maya Road kraft tags...a fav of mine.
I added a chipboard title and a few stars that were misted and stamped for a previous project and never used. A few flower gems were added.
The butterflies added to the bottom compartments on the left and right are rub ons added to vellum that were strays from a 7 Gypsies project I did. The guy in the middle is a random piece. Those metal circles are reinforcements!
I finished it up with a few gems and moved the stars around a bit. This projects was so quick to create! All the heavy lifting was done. I hope you start saving your bits and pieces with me. I am going to try to do some Upcycling once a month or so. Fun, fun!!! ~ Vicki

This is adorable! I have to get one of these mini trays... I have lots of Christmas scraps, it could easily be adapted for a Christmas themed tray (and would make a cute Christmas present!)

Vicki it is hard to believe these were scraps most girls would throw away. Beautiful! Thanks for the instructions too.
