Good morning, thanks joining me today for this quick and easy how-to! Did you like the peek-a-boo cards we showed you on Monday? Here are step-by-step instructions on how you can create one of your own.
To start out with, you’ll need basic papercrafting tools (paper trimmer, scissors, adhesive, etc.), along with the following supplies:
Cardstock, patterned paper, word stickers, scallop border punch, baby powder, soft brush, adhesive
Trim a piece of cardstock to create a 4.25”x5.5” card base that opens on the right. Trim 1.75” from the right edge; trim that scrap to 1.25”. You should have a card base that looks like this:
Trim a piece of patterned paper 2”x5.5” and scallop both long edges. This piece will be glued to the inside of the card and appear through the gap. Trim a different piece of patterned paper 1”x5.25” and glue it to the center of the 1.25” strip of cardstock that you previously cut off the front of the card.
Glue the scalloped piece to the inside of the card, ½” in from the right edge.
Mat your stamped design onto a 2.25”x5.25” piece of coordinating cardstock.
Glue the matted design to the front, left panel of the card. Position the matted 1.25” strip to the right side of the card and hold it in place with low-tack tape.
Peel off three word stickers and attach them over the gap on the bottom of the card as shown, being careful not to press down on the center of the sticker. Place two additional word stickers towards the top.
Open the card and dust the exposed stickers with baby powder using a soft brush.
Voila, instant pee-a-book card!
Think of all the possibilities just by using stickers and die cuts. For the upcoming holidays, I thought a card like this would be really pretty using snowflakes over the gap, or a bunch of flying bats for Halloween. I would love to see what you create using this technique—please post a link to your creation on the blog! Have a great week, everyone!
