You have to love a day that recognizes a hobby that so many of us hold near and dear to our hearts. I love National Scrapbook Day!! And my contribution will center on using class kit scraps and punches both of which are plentiful in my scrap room.
Last weekend I had the pleasure of spending the day with Catherine in Mississauga, Ontario at the CreativFestival. While there I taught a Doodlebug Design class featuring their Flower Box line. It is a beautiful collection with spring inspired colors and great sticker embellishments. After completing the double page layout I realized that there were enough extras to complete a second single page layout. Epiphany...perfect project for National Scrapbook Day!!
Together with my kit leftovers, I pulled out some punches and made this layout....
You can see the traditional borders I added using two different border punches but the butterflies were created with a little twist. I used two sizes of a scalloped heart punch to fashion these little flutterbees.
By simply folding my patterned paper in half and partially punching the heart shape I was able to create little butterflies. Fun, huh!?
Take a closer look. A little twine makes for a perfect body and antennae.
Thanks for letting me share my little NSD creative tidbit with you!! Hope you find some time to get crafty today!! Happy National Scrapbook Day!!! ~ Vicki Boutin

What a clever way to make butterflies! I must try that - I can see the kids at school loving this for Mother's Day cards. And Doodlebug is one of my very favourite companies. Thanks for sharing!
