Trend Watch - Mini Bags

There are many items from our everyday life that often get pulled into scrapbooking.  When these items start to appear on scrapbook store shelves, sometimes it is hard to know exactly what to do with them.

Mini decorative bags are a huge hit these days and are definitely trending as a must have embellishment. They are available in different sizes and colours from many of the top industry manufacturers.  But how do you incorporate them into a layout?

Nicole Nowosad recently created a blog post for Jillibean Soup where she used the mini bags as a layer on her page, instead of adding patterned paper.

 

Nicole's post shares a few great ideas on how you can use mini paper bags on your layouts.

A sketch challenge just for you!

Who doesn't love a sketch!  Personally, I like to use sketches as a jumping off point to get me inspired and to get scrapbooking!

In each issue of Scrapbook & Cards Today, Becky Fleck provides Pagemap sketches to our designers.  She also creates a number of bonus sketches specifically for SCT readers. 

 

Today's challenge is to create a layout using one of the bonus sketches from the fall issue.  With square sketches, horizontal sketches, card sketches, and double page layouts, there is something for everyone.  Flip the sketch, stretch the sketch, show us what you create!

Are you looking for a bit of help? Here are the layouts that three designers created for the fall issue using pagemap sketches. 

Once you have created your layout, link back to us in the comment section of this post.  We may have a goodie for one lucky scrapbooker!

Stories with heart by Ali Edwards!

Good morning SCT friends!  Did you have a great weekend?  Did you take some time to curl up and read our fall issue?  For those that did and have sent emails or left messages on facebook, THANK YOU!  You have no idea how wonderful those comments are to read.  When we release each issue we pray you will love it even more than the last one and from what we've heard, you have.  Again, thank you for taking the time to tell us what you loved.

Ali Edwards joined us last issue with her article series "stories with heart."  In this fall issue Ali writes about the fact that it's ok to document the imperfect pieces of our lives.  Over three layouts Ali discusses traditions, differences and the imperfect life. This layout seems to have been one that has touched many for it's read and deep journaling.
