Good morning! Virginia from Fynes Designs here today to share a holiday idea with you!
I’m seeing a big trend with Christmas trees this year, big statement pieces. You can find loads of trees on pinterest with lovely large ornaments, heavy garland, and my favorite banners. Today I would love to share with you a banner I put together for my Christmas tree.
This musical garland uses May Arts Pleated Satin ribbon to give it the classy Christmas feel. To trim the edge of your circles you will need to apply strong double-sided adhesive (like sookwang) to the backside of your circle around the edge. Then press the ribbon onto the adhesive so the edge of the center seam matches with the circles edge. This ribbon is perfect for this technique, because of the peats it does not cause any puckers. Plus it comes in two widths depending on the size of your project.
I chose to decorate my ribbon embellished circle with a Stampin’ UP doily cut out of gold foil paper. And add an additional ring of crepe paper streamers to make the banner stand out.
Creating a banner is the perfect way to hide a large imperfection on your tree, or give it that bit of class or a pop of color you were looking for.
I hope you like my banner idea, please join me on my blog Fynes Designs for more holiday inspiration!
