I’d like to begin by thanking all of you for the amazing comments you left last week. I read each and everyone and appreciate them SO much. You’re a brilliant community and you know how to make a gal feel good. Thank you!
Now, let’s get some fine print out of the way regarding this post. I am in no way affiliated with IKEA, nor do I pretend to be on TV (or something like that). But I am hopelessly in love with the Raskog cart.
The moment I first laid eyes on this thing of beauty, I snapped this image and posted it to my Instagram account with the caption, “Someday very soon, one of these IKEA beauties will be mine. Oh, yes!”
Yes, it was love at first site. The reason for my crush is simple: I immediately saw tremendous storage potential in waiting. And as a storage/organization junkie, I fell head over heels. I went on to produce Creative Spaces Vol. 2 with Megan Hoeppner, where this beautiful cart graced the pages in three of the featured rooms. Three! It had only been on sale... a month, if that, and it was already making appearances in craft rooms around the globe.
I spy, with my little eye... a Raskog on the cover.
So, in honor of this cart and talking trends in organization, I thought we could look at all of the cool ways this cutie cart can be used to help you organize your crafting life. But first, let’s look at a few fun approaches outside of the craft room.
Bar Cart (Bart?)
Want your own rolling beverage station? Looks like Azul Home has the right idea.
And I’m totally digging this outdoor entertainment approach by Cote Maison—put two carts side by side, top them with some lumbar, and you’ve got a poolside party!
Baby Buggy
Comfy Home proves it’s easy to keep yourself organized, even as a new mama. Check out this sweet nursery idea.
Book Cart
Don’t have a nightstand? No problem! Apartment Therapy has a clever idea for using this cart to store your books, magazines, and other bedside business.
Now, onto the need we all have in common: getting our crafting supplies organized. Whether you’re looking to create a die-cutting station, a Project Life landing space, a colorful art caddy, or nifty knitting center, this cart has you covered. Take a look!
Die Cutting Done Right
When it comes to cutting it out, dies and machines can be bulky and cumbersome. No worries; as Connie Mercer (Crafty Goodies) illustrates here, the tiers of a rolling cart are all you need to create a die-cutting station on wheels.
Puttin’ On the Spritz
These carts belong to Marcy Penner, who hopes she’ll use her spray ink and paint more with them kept out where she can see them and access them. Great tip! Do you have a supply you don’t use as much as you wish you did? Perhaps relocating it to an open storage solution like this is just what the doctor ordered.
Aerial View
Love this top-down look inside Nicole Reaves cart, which was featured on the Studio Calico blog. Now I know why I’ve hung onto all of those baby-food jars. Isn’t this an awesome way to keep your small embellishments contained?
Prop Shop
Here’s a cool cart start a la The 36th Avenue: keep your photo-shoot props contained in one portable place. This is an awesome idea if you shoot projects for your blog, Instagram or other avenue, because props can quickly become bulky and unruly, and this cart keeps so many shapes and sizes grouped together.
ROYGBIV
If “color” is the name of your creative game, you’re going to go gaga for Lisa Hetrick’s Raskog rainbow. Just look at how many unique color mediums a single cart holds. Wow!
Anabelle O’Malley is another who enjoys the wonderful world of color with her cart, as seen on the Studio Calico blog. Love her use of milk glass dishes to hold various tools!
At the Swapp
Heidi Swapp loaded her cart with all sorts of beautiful goodies, including journaling cards that would be just right for Project Life albums.
Yes, this cart pretty much takes the cake when it comes to getting organized. It’s a popular little number that works for so many uses. And it’s only $49.99 (USD). The only downside? Welll, not everyone has an IKEA nearby, which is why I’m pleased to inform you World Market carries similar products, including the carts shown below:
These beauties do cost a bit more than the IKEA cart, but through April 9, World Market is offering free shipping on $100 or more and 10% off your order. Shazam!
So, now I’m hoping you’ll help me out. I have the teal Raskog cart, and I’m not sure how to put it to use. There are just too many cool ideas out there. Currently, I use it to hold projects in progress, but I’m not sure if that’s the best use. I’d love to know what idea was your favorite, or if you have a different idea entirely. Feel like sharing?
Thanks! I hope you’ve enjoyed playing Megio Cart with me today as much as I’ve enjoyed it!
Since we rocked the Raskog, I thought I’d leave you with a little Rock the Casbah action. Hope it doesn’t, ahem, Clash with your day.
Until we meet again, cool carts cats,
We are continuing our 8th birthday with another sweet company we adore...Paper Smooches! Here is a sweet card created by Marion Vagg with the Paper Smooches "hello" die!
To celebrate our birthday, our friends at Paper Smooches would love to offer a lucky SCT reader this...
A $25 gift certificate so that you can choose your own prize! As part of our birthday and 80K facebook fan celebration we have had a prize each day from many of our partners. Each day we will post a prize here and the same prize on our Facebook page and you can either post a comment below to win or on the Facebook post referencing this prize. We will combine them together and on April 11th we will announce all the winners here and on Facebook too! One winner will be chosen for each day. Good luck!
Please take a moment to visit Paper Smooches' facebook page and give them a huge "SCT thank you!" We love Kim Hughes and this great company she has created. Kim was part of the SCTfamily several years ago and we could not be happier for her success!
Have a great rest of your Monday! Many of the SCT team are back from Crop & Create Winnipeg and what weekend it was. One we won't soon forget!

Omgosh! Now I have to have one of those carts! The nearest Ikea to me is almost 2 hours away, but it might be worth the trip ;)
I placed my 1st order with Paper Smooches a few weeks ago & fell in love. Thanks for the chance.

I have one of those carts in teal that I purchased several months ago on a trip to Ikea with my daughter. Who knew I would be ahead of the trend! I love it! The top rack has my xyron, post its, adhesives, all that kind of stuff. Next rack has acrylic blocks, baby wipes etc.. Bottom rack has my larger size sizzix dies and heating tool for embossing. After seeing all these lovely ideas I need another one! Would love to win the paper smooches gift certificate. Thanks for the chance.

Those are all amazing ideas for that cart!! I'm not sure what I would do with it! Maybe organize stamps and die cutting stuff?? I guess it really depends on what you use the most and what really needs to be organized!
