Hello Scrapbook & Cards Today, friends! Shellye along today with a couple of ways to spruce up your cards with sequins. These are also fun ideas to transfer to your scrapbook pages or other papercrafts. For both cards I am using the "Radiant" Collection by Authentique Paper, sequins from Doodlebug Design and adhesive by Xyron.
On the first card I let the pattern of the journal card guide me in sequin placement. I love the diamond pattern so I chose to highlight that area with the sequins.
To attach the sequins, I've used the 3/16" Adhesive Dots by Xyron; these work nicely for small or larger sequins. To the center of each sequin I added an adhesive backed pearl. You can also add seed beads, enamel dots, brads, small buttons or leave plain!
Finishing up the card was as easy as adding a sentiment sticker layered with a label sticker!
I've always loved hand-stitching sequins! It takes me back to the days when I was newly married and made applique stockings, ornaments and a tree skirt for our first Christmas :) I didn't add the seed beads to the centers of mine, but it works out just fine without them.
Begin by lightly drawing out the letter or design that you'd like to use. Thread a needle with thread and begin stitching the sequins over the pencil marking. Use a back-stitch method so that the sequins are locked into place.
As you can see, when you set out to focus on a certain technique or embellishment on your card, little else is needed!
I hope that you've enjoyed these ideas and will give them a try! ~ Shellye McDaniel

I love these! I just did one recently, using an idea posted on somebody's blog. Cut out a butterfly shape, traced it onto my card & 'coloured' the buttrely with sequins. Then used puffy adhesive to attach the overlay for the 3D look. My friend liked it & I loved making it for her!
