Hello SCT friends & Project Life Peeps! My name is Jess Forster and I am “jazz hands” excited to be on the Scrapbook & Cards Today blog. It feels like it was just yesterday when I had “discovered scrapbooking” and picked up my first SCT magazine. This, along with many other copies, I read cover-to-cover, for inspiration. I am so grateful to Catherine for letting me share my work in this space. I am a big fan of her & SCT. So without further ado, read on friends about filling in weekly gaps in Project Life!
Who doesn’t love to play a good game of doctor? Say Aw!.....
Before the craziness of the holidays begin, I am looking back in my 2014 Project Life album to fill in some the empty spaces. Maybe you can relate? After completing Project Life for the past three years, I recognize that there are times when I am productive and times when I am not. Living in the Great White North, aka Toronto, Canada, this is especially true in the summer. Although I am kinda obsessed with Project Life, I don’t always have time to scrapbook. I don’t feel guilty about taking breaks and I recognize that I can always go back and document previous weeks. For this quick and simple page, also known as Week 37, I am going back and documenting the labour day weekend we spent visiting my parents – or as my girlie calls them “Grandmat & Grandpot”. Gotta love a preschooler’s sense of humour? Am I right?
Supplies: Page Protectors: Design V + 6 x 12 insert; Cards: Heidi Swapp Favourite Things Core Kit; Wood Veneers: Studio Calico
To create a simple and “timeless” look for my page, I converted all my photos from colour to black and white, using the Pic-Tap-Go App on my iPhone. Next, I choose 4 photos that best represented the week. I enlarged the picture of Rowan and my mom “playing doctor” to 6 x 12 to create a focal point. I love elevating small everyday moments like this and building a page around them. Another bonus? Enlarged photos take up a lot of space, helping to finish weeks faster.
Based on my previous work in Week 36, I knew I had to use the Design V page protector. In the interest of saving time, I selected one of my favourite colour go-to combinations: green, black and white journaling cards from the Heidi Swapp Favourite Things Core kit. After arranging my photos and journaling cards, I added wood veneers from Studio Calico to add more interest to the page. Seriously, I never met a wood veneer I didn’t like.
Lastly, instead of focusing on all the events of the week, I included two small moments that focused on the interactions Rowan had with my parents. Can you tell that riding the lawn mover and playing doctor were important moments? No novel here, just some simple details that give meaning to the pictures.
Bottom line: We all have gaps in our Project Life albums – no need to feel guilty! By limiting your number of photos, relying on your favourite go to colour combinations and adding simple journaling details, you too can fill gaps in your albums before 2015. Thanks for reading and letting me share! And to all our American Friends south of the border – Happy Thanksgiving!

Love your comments and how you used color papers and B&W photos. You make catching up so easy to day with this beautiful combination. Thanks
