12 days of holiday giving! Day Seven!

Good morning!  We are so glad you've joined us!  We are halfway through our annual "12 days of holiday giving!" and the fun is continuing on friends!!!  Today designer Lisa Dickinson is here along with an outstanding prize packge from our friends at BasicGrey and Taylored Expression!  A perfect trio wouldn't you say?  We are too excited to wait any longer so let's get started!

"My kids always look forward to our annual Advent calendar that kicks off December and ensures we celebrate each day leading up to Christmas.  Though we’ve used store-bought calendars before, I love coming up with my own crafty ideas for this tradition!  This year, I created numbered tags to attach to small treats and gifts to be opened each day.  These were easy to make with the Christmas Countdown stamp set from Taylored Expressions, which includes the numbers 1-24 in a variety of fun and festive fonts.

After stamping some of the frames + numbers on solid cardstock, I used scraps of patterned papers from the My Mind’s Eye Sleigh Bells Ring collection to add color and pattern to the tags. With the addition of some simple embellishments and twine, the tags are ready to attach to holiday ornaments, treats, and small treasures.

In addition to the numbered tags counting down the days til Crhistmas, on the back of each tag, I included a holiday activity for that day.  These range from simple (walk around the neighborhood to look at lights!) to more complex (donate toys and food to a local charity) but always help bring the spirit of the holidays to life.

Here’s a few more of our holiday prompts, but you can customize your activities to fit your family and the season!

    •       Cut out paper snowflakes to decorate your windows

            •           Take a family photo by the Christmas tree

            •           Donate old blankets to an animal shelter

            •           Take a hot cocoa break

            •           Write a letter to Santa

            •           Share your 5 favorite memories from the year

            •           Put out winter food for the birds

            •           Make breakfast for dinner (and eat it in your pjs!)

            •           Watch a favorite holiday movie together

            •           Donate or volunteer at a local charity

            •           Send a letter to someone you love who’s far away
