Hello and happy Magazine Monday, my friends! I’m here with monthly report on what’s going on behind the scenes with Scrapbook & Cards Today.
First, as I’m guessing you know by now, our Spring 2015 issue is out and available to you. Thanks so much to all of you for your kind feedback on this issue. We worked hard to bring you a variety of ideas and projects to enjoy this entire spring season. One of my personal favorites from this issue is Nicole Nowosad’s layout from our Back to Basics feature. I just adore her fresh uses for adding gems to a page. I’d love to know what some of your favorite ways to incorporate gems into your projects are.
On To The Next
Even though it’s just April, we’re already hard at work on our Summer 2015 issue. And we’d love to have you involved in the fun. Have you ever submitted a project before? If not, now seems as good a time as any to give it a go. I invite you to check out our Call for Submissions to find specifics on what we’re looking for.
Sketch Savvy
New to this call is a sketch design. We’d love to see what you create from this image. Whether you choose to modify the blueprint provided or work directly from its pattern, we’d be thrilled to see what you come up with!
Tips for Getting Published
There are a variety of helpful tips to keep in mind when submitting your work for consideration in a future issue of our magazine. I thought I’d outline a few of those for you here today.
1. Keep it current. It’s best if you use items that are still available for readers to purchase. If, however, you have fairly evergreen supplies (such as basic patterns and solid cardstock), this isn’t as crucial. It’s more important when it comes to very unique elements.

2. We seek all types of projects, from traditional scrapbook pages to pocket pages (made using divided page protectors), cards, and other altered paper projects. Don’t be afraid to submit more than one type of project.

3. We seem to have a harder time finding two-page scrapbook layouts that incorporate multiple photos, thought we know our readers love them. Seems like a wise idea to go that route if you aren’t sure what style to go with.

4. Know our magazine and do your best to complement that style. As much as we appreciate other artistic styles out there, we’re pretty true to our clean and simple style of design when it comes to the work we include.
