Hello and happy {inter} National Scrapbook Day! Jen Gallacher here to talk layering! Here's a layout I created to celebrate my daughter Katelyn.
I love the look of layering on a layout. But what is my secret for getting enough layers in the right order so it looks cohesive and works best for my project? Here's a few tips:
* Small, Medium, Large: make sure you have an item that is small, one that is slightly larger, and one that is larger than that. It always looks great that way.
* Odd Numbers: Keeping the layers to three, or five, or even seven things looks much better than just two items.
* Different Textures: On this page, I used a soft doily, three smooth enamel dots, a glittered die cut, and a textured die cut word. Having items all the same texture can sometimes look boring.
* Plan and then Place: Before adhering anything on your layout, move things around until it feels right. Then adhere the items to your page.
Here's a closer look at the layering I created at the top of the page:
Did you know that you can layer in more than one area on your layout? The entire layout is layered in the center. I did the title layering at the top. But I also layered items in a second spot on my page. Here's a closer look at this layering:
Love layering? I'd love to see how you layer. Simply share links to your completed projects in the comments below. What tips and tricks do YOU have for layering items on your layouts?
