Thank you for joining us this hour for a World Card Making Day sketch challenge! In our brand new special issue Creative Cards Vol 1 (you can order your very own copy right here!) we offered many bonus sketches in it. We asked some of the contributors to Creative Cards Vol. 1 to choose their favourite sketch and create a card based on that sketch. Here are their cards...
Card by Nicole Nowosad:
Based on this sketch:
"My favorite way to use up my supplies is to make cards. I am one of those people that loves pretty paper and I have such a hard time tossing even the smallest of scrap out! That can quickly add up, so I like to use my scraps to make cards. I chose this sketch from Creative Cards Vol 1 and got to work quite quickly with some scraps of paper I had on my desk. Grabbing a quick sketch takes some of the guesswork out of your design. I was inspired by the pennant in the sketch but decided to do a torn layered look in its' place instead.
Making cards is another great excuse for me to break out my stamp stash and add a smaller sentiment to my card. I love the stamped look, mixed with glitter alphas, also sitting in my stash! ~ Nicole
Virginia Nebel's card:
based on this sketch:
"Happy World Card Making day fellow crafters! Hope you are enjoying the blog celebration today and inspired to make a card or two. As much as I love my digital cutter I can’t part with my steel rule dies, these were some of the first tools I owned as a crafter. Perhaps you may have a few of these in your stash, time to give them some love and make some pattern paper chipboard elements! Just grab some chipboard and a few pieces of pattern paper. Using a glue stick adhere the pattern paper to the chipboard and run them through your steel rule die. You have made some pretty chipboard pieces in no time flat!" ~ Virginia
Marla Kress' card:

Michele Boyer's card:
based on this sketch:
"The other day I needed a card for a friend. I wanted to thank her, not for a gift or an act of kindness but for always being there at just the right moment, for a variety of moments. Of all the cards in my stash, nothing fit the situation. This card is for her, because I want her to know I am thankful to have her in my life." ~ Michele

I would be completely lost without sketches... I use them as a starting point for almost every single scrapbook page and card I make! And it's so much fun to see what others see in a sketch because it can be so different from what I see! Love the prizes for this challenge - especially the Lawn Fawn stamp set and die - too adorable!!
