Scrapbook & Cards Today Blog: 11:00 am iNSD with Cathy Zielske!

Good morning, Cathy Z here! As a fan of simplicity in scrapbooking, when I saw Krista Wells’ page in the inspiration gallery of our spring issue I knew I had my inspiration for a scraplift. Built around a single 6 x 4 photos, this design is just so clean and flexible. You could take any snapshot and scrapbook it using this design. Here is Krista’s original page:

And here is my version of her design:

I basically took her elements and applied them in a way that made sense for my subject, a boy playing ultimate. I love her simple repetition of papers and her Instagram icon. I simply copied that approach by making my own black circle element and small text bar for the photo.

I loved this design so much that I turned it into a Hybrid Helper template for you. Hybrid Helpers are templates that start out in Photoshop but end up as physical pages you create with paper and glue. You simply add the title and journaling, customize the word strip, and then print them out onto cardstock. It’s simply a matter of turning off layers to print elements. The base photo size is 6 x 4.

A clean, simple design is very attractive to me and the style that I most often apply to my own designs. CZ is one of the funniest and inspiring crafters out there! Love her work. Krista's layout is always really nice - so uncluttered that you can really focus on the picture and story BUT I love that title too :) Thanks so much for the chance to win the beautiful lines from CTMH and Carta Bella!
