Hello SCT readers, it's Nancy! I love a good clean design so it's no surprise that I was drawn to Peppermint Granberg's layout on page 67 of the Spring issue. Her beautiful, clean grid design was the inspiration behind this page.
Like Peppermint, I chose a nice stark white background with some fun pops of color. I matted the photo with a lollipop print transparency and surrounded it with icons that related to the story.
The story is one about Downtown Disney and one of my favorite spots there. I included strips of journaling and used machine journaling to attach them in a cascade. The white on white fringe at the bottom adds texture without taking away from the focal point.
Peppermint's layout included a few different shapes (circles, stars and hearts) and I mimicked that look with circles, flowers and a Mickey head. The mixing of shapes that are relatively the same size gives the design a pop of interest.
Thanks Peppermint for your inspiration and beautiful design! It's one of my favorite go to's." ~ Nancy

Love how the grid design works with the variety of shapes. Also, a big fan of the white background. I can imagine using the Jillibean Soup embellies on a white page of my own ;)
