Hello! It's Jen Gallacher joining you as we come close to wrapping up interNational Scrapbook Day! If you're joining us for the first time, be sure to check out our first post today here!
I chose Richard Garay's beautiful "Today is the Day" card on page 70 of the Spring 2016 issue. I loved how gorgeous this card was so I knew that I wanted to use it to create an 8 1/2" x 11" layout.
Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill, American Crafts; Patterned Paper, Ephemera: My Mind's Eye; Leaf Die Cut: Echo Park Paper; Paper Clips: Doodlebug Designs; Gold Doily: American Crafts; Black Photo Corners: Thermoweb; "XOXO" and Label Sticker: Simple Stories; Enamel Dots: Echo Park Paper; Ribbon: source unknown
Here are the things I was "inspired by" from his card:
- White foundation with a colored, background. Although I used a patterned paper.
- Cluster of flowers. Mine are die cuts: both manual and ephemera.
- Brush script sentiment. Mine is a sticker from Simple Stories.
While I used a different colors scheme and went with a layout rather than a card, using Richard's card helped my layout come together quickly. Look for scrapbooking inspiration in places besides other scrapbooking pages. It might surprise you where it comes from!
Your challenge: Use a card to inspire elements for a layout! Be sure to share the card with us too! Share your 8:00 pm challenge with us three ways: by email at [email protected], by uploading it to our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram @sctmagazine by May 15th! If you do, you'll be entered to win a one year subscription to Scrapbook & Cards Today magazine and a $100 mystery box prize!
