Hello! Kimberly Crawford here and I am thrilled to be celebrating World Card Making Day with you! One of my favorite card-making tools are stamps! They are so versatile. By using a few different techniques, one stamp can create unique looks. Today I am going to share with you three techniques using one background stamp!
Coloring with Marker:
To create the soft background on this card, I began by coloring directly onto my stamped image with Distress Markers. I started with the leaves, first coloring with the lighter green, then adding darker green, directly over the top. Using the side of the marker brush tip helps color the surface of the stamp quickly. The flowers were colored with two tones as well, starting again with the lighter tone.
Once the image was entirely covered with color, a small amount of water was spritzed on the surface of the stamp. Hold the mist bottle farther away from the stamp for a crisper image, and bring it close for a more watered-down appearance.
Supplies: Stamp-Carta Bella (Victorian Floral Stamp), MFT Stamps cardstock (Poppy Red, Orange Zest, Vellum), MFT Stamps Die-namics (Thanks & Hello), Pretty Pink Posh Sequins (Clear 4mm), Distress Markers (Ripe Persimmon, Candied Apple, Moved Lawn, Twisted Citron), Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L (EZ Runner Permanent, EZ Runner Permanent Dots)
Stamping and Foiling:
For this card, the stamp was covered in Reactive Paint, a paint formulated to be used with foil. It was applied with a foam brush until the stamp was evenly covered. Then the image was stamped onto a piece of card stock. Foil was applied to the surface, color side up.
Then the foil and cardstock were placed inside a plastic carrier sheet and passed through a foiling machine. Once complete, the foil was removed and the gorgeous, shiny image was left behind!
Supplies: Stamp-Carta Bella (Victorian Floral Stamp), Echo Park Patterned Paper (I Love Family 6x6 pad), MFT Stamps cardstock (Kraft, Chocolate Brown, Brushed Gold, Vellum), MFT Stamps Die-namics (Thanks & Hello), Pretty Pink Posh Sequins (Gold 4mm), Paint (Heidi Swapp Minc Reactive Paint, Foil (Heidi Swapp Minc Gold), Foiling Machine (Heidi Swapp Minc Mini), Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L (EZ Runner Permanent, EZ Runner Permanent Dots)
Coloring the Stamped Image:
After stamping the image in grey ink, the open spots in the image were colored in with colored pencil. The unique color for the leaves was the perfect color for the card base.
Bonus idea: On the card base for this card, the same background image was stamped, using watermark ink, bringing out a subtle and coordinating pattern.
Supplies: Stamp-Carta Bella (Victorian Floral Stamp, MFT Stamps cardstock (Lush Lagoon, Tangy Orange, Vellum), MFT Stamps Die-namics (Thanks & Hello), Pretty Pink Posh Sequins (Clear 4mm), Prismacolor pencils, Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L (EZ Runner Permanent, EZ Runner Permanent Dots)
Have fun creating unique looks with the same stamp today! Happy World Card Making Day!" ~ Kim Crawford

Wow! I really enjoyed looking at the Close to my Heart catalog! I'd never seen one before and it is just brimming with so many great things! Sadly I really liked the stamps listed as September only products. But I also loved some of the products for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It is hard to pick just one but the sentiments in both of those were super nice.
