Good morning SCT friends! We sure hope you're enjoying our annual 12 days of holiday giving...SCT style! We are loving all the comments and appreciate all the comments left on the Facebook pages of our partners. They very much appreciate hearing from you! Today contributing writer Melissa Phillips joins us and while she does not have five golden rings she does have a beautiful project to share! Let's get this day started...on the 5th day of SCT's 12 days of holiday giving, SCT gave to me...
Hello there and Merry Christmas! I'm so happy to be participating in Scrapbook & Cards Today 12 Days of Holiday Giving. Today I have one of the easiest and quickest holiday decor projects ready to share with you.
I have used the Christmas Trees, 3-D BIGZ Die from Brenda Walton and Sizzix...it's magical! If you can't get your hands on this die, any tree die will work when creating the solid 3-D tree. I first had to choose my color palette for my project and then sorted through my paper stash and selected patterns and colors that I thought would fit perfectly in my holiday decor scheme.
I selected papers in 4 different patterns/colors and ran each through with the die twice, creating 8 layers. I then layered them one on top of the other, mixing the different patterns so there wasn't a duplicate layered together. To attach the layers together, I used my stapler and secured both my large, open tree, and my smaller, solid tree, right down the center. Lastly, I folded the first half of the tree layers upward, and the second half of the tree layers the other direction, creating a nice full tree. All that was left was to attach the die cut stars to the top of each tree and add my embellishments.
I added glitter stickers from the My Mind's Eye Sugar Plum collection to my smaller tree, and used enamel shapes, also from the Sugar Plum collection, to the stars on the top of each tree.
I added a bit of shimmer by die cutting pine sprigs from gold glittered cardstock from Anna Griffin, and adhering them at the top of my trees, and as shown below, behind my cute Santa flair, from A Flair for Buttons.
Of course, no project is complete around here without a gentle dusting of glitter :).
These can be whipped up in a snap but look like they took hours. They'd be beautiful down the center of your table, across your mantle, or mixed in with a winter village.
I'd love to leave you with a Christmas wish before I go. My wish for you would be take some time this holiday season, in the midst of all of the hustle and bustle, and soak in some quiet time by the Christmas tree, maybe with a fire in the fireplace, and hot cocoa in your hands :). Let the warmth of the season and all of its goodness warm your heart. This time of year is one of my most favorite times for reflection on what is truly important.
I have a little something sweet on my blog for you today as well, so join me HERE.
Merry Christmas my friends!
~ Melissa
