Holidays are always so busy, so I like to try to make projects this time of year that are quick and that can be used for home decor or even as a great gift!
Wood projects are all over Pinterest, and I couldn't resist using a 12" wood plank by Jillibean Soup as the base for my project. I lightly sanded the wood plank so that the surface wood take the Happy Hues paint a little easier, and it also prevents bleeding under the stencil I intended to use.
I chose the Festive Wreath diecut from JustNick Studio and cut it out of stencil material on my digital die cut machine. I carefully removed the backing of the stencil material and then applied the whole thing to the front of my wood plank. I then removed the area of the stencil that I wanted to be painted in. In this case, that was the actual wreath shape. All there was to do now, was add a few coats of white Happy Hues paint, carefully remove that stencil and patiently wait for the paint to dry.
Once the design was dry, I lightly sanded the design to remove any rough paint edges that may have come up with the removal of the stencil. From here, it was play time! I kept my design simple and added a gold foil paper "Merry" for a bit of a sentiment, also diecut from my digital diecut machine.
I tied some pretty holiday ribbon around a bundle of pinecones and gold glitter elements that I picked up at the local craft store. You can easily adhere this to the wood with glue dots or even a hot glue gun works great. Now, you are all ready to decorate your home, or - if you can part with it - wrap this up as a gift to a lucky friend!
I just want to wish all our readers a very Happy Holiday! I hope you all get to enjoy some time around those who matter most this holiday season.
